Since 2024: Minimum Hourly Wage
On January 1, 2024, the statutory minimum hourly wage was introduced. This is the gross minimum wage per hour. The statutory minimum hourly wage applies to all employees aged 15 and older.
For all employees aged 21 and older, there is a fixed minimum hourly wage. For employees aged 15 to 20, fixed minimum youth hourly wages apply. The youth minimum wages are derived from the statutory minimum hourly wage.
Wages per Week or Month
Since 2024, there are no fixed minimum monthly, weekly, or daily wages. Wages per week or month depend on the number of hours worked (working hours).
The following count toward working hours:
- The number of hours worked
- Hours taken as leave
- Hours during which the employee was sick (with entitlement to continued payment)
Working hours may vary each month because some months have more working days than others.
